Born in Italy, and living in the US since an early age, Leonardo since 1970, has been exhibiting his work not so frequently in open juried shows, outdoor art shows, and galleries. However, when Leonardo does exhibit, he always attracts large audiences to his paintings because of the life stories they depict and his unique style.
To enhance his natural abilities, Leonardo has studied painting at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and The School of Visual Arts in New York City. It is unfortunate that he does not exhibit more often. Sometimes many years go by before he does show, but when he does,to quote other artists, “Leonardo’s work is always very interesting and always has a stirring impact with viewers.”
Leonardo’s work, to say the least, is original and real to life. To classify his work in a particular type of painting school, is difficult. Perhaps the closest is the Ash Can School of the 30’s. His paintings are truly unique in his portrayal of urban life, people in unique situations in every day living. Leonardo paints for himself, and not to please others for the purpose of color matching or interior decorating. His paintings are conversation pieces which stimulate feelings and emotions, as most decorative art cannot. So, if you’re looking for a good story, look at Leonardo’s paintings, they tell about life. Truly, his paintings are worth a thousand words.
